Replication Options

Zenith also provides features to synchronize your backups to a local or network destination. This copies your entire backup chain to a redundant location for archiving and disaster recovery. Synchronizations can be scheduled or run on demand. Administrators receive alerts on failure. Retrieve images and restore back to the ARCA if needed from archive.

Under an ARCA to ARCA replication scenario, the primary ARCA is located at the end user’s location. The primary ARCA contains a virtualization profile which enables our “Instant Restore” in the event of a localized disaster such as a server hardware failure. In order to mitigate catastrophic failure, a secondary ARCA can be placed at an alternate location and the primary ARCA will replicate both server virtualization profiles and the backup sets on a scheduled basis. This allows for “Instant Restore” at the alternate physical location should it become necessary. This configuration is deployed in pairs with one Primary ARCA and one Secondary ARCA.

Bi-directional ARCA to ARCA replication is also available for ARCA models which have a separate RAID array for replication. In this scenario ARCA 1 at Site A replicates its backup data to ARCA 2 at Site B and vice versa.

Transfer Technology

Data is transferred via a configurable application on the ARCA units. Depending on the type of internet connection, speed, and latency, several modes are available: Standard TCP, SVP or UDP. Scenario usage is described in the users manual. Regardless of protocol all transmissions are verified at the packet level. Multiple levels of redundancy and notification are embedded in the application so you always know the status of data replication.
